English: Hyde Bank Tunnel, Peak Forest Canal, Cheshire Length, 308 yards. There is no towpath through this canal, so in the days of horse boats, the horse had to be walked over the top while the boat was 'legged' through. I'm quite sure the horse preferred this arrangement. |
