English: I captured this frame while visiting a tribal village of Purulia.(West Bengal,India)The children in the frame were playing and experimenting with a Foldscope (an optical microscope that can be assembled with a sheet of paper and a lens. It was developed by Manu Prakash and designed to cost less than US$1 to build. It is part of the "frugal science" movement. The magnification power of foldscope enables the spotting of organisms such as Leishmania donovani and Escherichia coli, malarial parasites, etc.)Foldscope is an example of an 'inclusive science' project and can save thousands of lives every year. The elder girl knew how to use it and she was trying to make her companions learn the use.This sight was a promising one as the pleasure of Peace can only be experienced by a healthy and happy world. And implementation of this pocket-friendly invention can call for a radical change towards the path of health, harmony and peace. |
