| Description | The Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1) Receptor is found on the surface of human cells and is activated by two different hormones, IGF-1 and IGF-2. IGF1R is frequently overexpressed in tumors, including melanomas, cancers of the colon, pancreas, prostate and kidney. In cancer cells, IGFR-1 contributes to the promotion of tumor growth by inhibition of the apoptosis, transformation and induction of angiogenesis.
