Français : Lettrine "A" avec représentation de Daniel dans la fosse aux lions (Livre de Daniel, XIV, 30-31), sur fond rectangulaire bleu orné de rinceaux rouges. Elle est accompagnée de trois expressions latines :

Incipit Liber : « Incipit du livre » ;

Expositionis in Danihele P[ro]ph[eti]am : « Explications sur la prophétie de Daniel » ;

Anno ter[c]io regni Ioachi[m] regis I[udae] : « La troisième année du règne de Joakim, roi de Juda » (Livre de Daniel, I, 1).

Dans l'angle droit, l'archange Gabriel emporte avec lui Habacuc pour le conduire à Daniel (Livre de Daniel, XIV, 36-37).

L'ensemble est garni d'une frise brune à clef grecque et motif d'oiseau.


English: Historiated initial "A" and depiction of Daniel in the lions’ den (Book of Daniel, 14: 30-31) on rectangular blue background adorned with red rinceaux. The three following sentences in Latin can be read on:

Incipit Liber: “Incipit of the Book”;

Expositionis in Danihele P[ro]ph[eti]am: “Commentaries on the Prophecy of Daniel”;

Anno ter[c]io regni Ioachi[m] regis I[udae]: “In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah” (Book of Daniel, 1: 1).

At the upper right corner of the folio, the archangel Gabriel is taking hold of Habakkuk's head and carrying him off by the hair to Daniel (Book of Daniel, 14: 36-37).

Outline is adorned with a brown frieze decoration incised with Greek fret (Greek key design) and bird pattern.
