Description
Nederlands: Op het terrein tussen de Gasmeterlaan en Pannestraat in Gent waar vroeger het textielveredelingsbedrijf De Backer-De Rudder & Cie was gevestigd, is er nu een woonwijk aangelegd. Het bedrijf legt zich toe op het verven en nabehandelen van stoffen, een productieproces met veel chemicaliën en kleurmiddelen. In 1982 wordt het bedrijf een laatste keer in het adresboek vermeld. Na de sloop van de fabrieksgebouwen verschijnt er in 1990 een sociale woonwijk. Een grondig bodemonderzoek is op dat moment nog niet verplicht. In 2008 onderzoekt OVAM de historische verontreiniging van de voormalige industriële activiteiten in de Rabotwijk. Uit grondstalen blijkt dat ook de firma De Backer-De Rudder vervuiling nalieten. Zicht op de Gasmeterlaan.
