The original finding aid described this as: Description: A view showing the antenna apparatus of the International Telecommunications Organization Satellite (INTELSAT) VI F-3 during STS-49 onorbit capture, repair and servicing. With the new vertical perigee stage in place, INTELSAT VI will be on its way to an eventual arrival at geosynchronous Earth orbit. This image was taken by an electronic still camera (ESC) as part of Development Test Objective (DTO) 648, Electonic Still Photography Test (with downlink). Electronic Still Photography is a new technology which provides the means for a handheld camera to electronically capture and digitize an image with resolution approaching film quality. DTO 648 will determine camera response to the photographic collections encountered onorbit using a variety of lenses and camera settings.
