Description
English: Multiple bridges span the Willamette River. Most are clustered near or along downtown Portland, but one connect the St. Johns neighborhood to the NW section of Portland. This bridge is the beloved and iconic St. Johns Bridge. Completed in 1931, the bridge is a beautiful landmark. This view was taken from below in Cathedral Park. It features the tops of some of its supporting piers, the deck, and the two towers.

The St. John Bridge is part of two historic surveys. The first is the Historic Resource Inventory. It was a survey done by the Historic Resource Commission of the City of Portland in the mid-1980s. The bridge's ID on this survey is 50326. The second survey is the national Historic American Engineering Record. The National Parks Service, Library of Congress, and American Society of Civil Engineers established this to document the historic engineering and industrial sites. The St. Johns Bridge's survey ID is HAER OR-40
