Summary edit

Description
English: A three particle ideal gas partitioned into two parts can be visualized in three dimensions. If all the particles are in a single part , the split is 3|0 and phase space is a sphere. If the split is 2|1, then the phase space is a circle and a pair of points. There are three such states, depending on whether particle 1, 2, or 3 is the solitary particle.
