Igai: "Lord of the oasis" Late Cretaceous, Africa

Summary

edit
Description
English: Igai is a titanosaur from the Late Cretaceous of Egypt. Typical of sauropods, it was an herbivore that stood on four pillar-like legs and had a long neck. It was slender for a titanosaur, and is estimated to have reached around 10–15 m in length. Its discovery strengthened a hypothesis that Late Cretaceous titanosaurs in northern Africa and Europe tended to be relatively small. This is in contrast to their counterparts from southern Africa, which seemed to have evolutionary origins fom the Gondwanan continent.
