| Description |
English: The former Emmanuel Baptist Church, 279 Rhode Island Street at Normal Avenue, Buffalo, New York, February 2020. This was the second one that belonged to the congregation, which was originally founded in 1871 as a mission of the Prospect Avenue Baptist Church serving the less densely populated neighborhood now known as Five Points. The erstwhile "Prospect Chapel" was razed in 1922 and replaced with the handsome English Gothic-style edifice seen here. In the years after Emmanuel Baptist's dissolution, it's served as home to a revolving door of congregations mostly of the Hispanic Evangelical variety (Iglesia de Dios Fuente de Vida was the most recent one), as of the date of this photograph the building was vacant and for sale. |
