Poglavar von Appel na dužnost stupio 26.08.1882. godine sve do 11.12.1903. godine. Prije samo pet mjeseci od Appelovog napuštanja Bosne umro je Benjamin Kalaj. Usput naveo vrijeme vezano za Appela. Ovaj 'cvijetnjak' veoma mlađe dobi, 'asfaltiran' prilaz zgradi (za fijakere), električne lampe ispred ulaza (preve sijalice u Sarajevu 1895.) i mislim da je iz vremena vladavine von Appela.
