Description

Dedicada a Nossa Senhora da Assunção, remonta ao século XIII. A sua construção terá sido ordenada pela mulher do segundo Senhor de Alte, que assim agradeceu o regresso do esposo, que voltava da VIII Cruzada à Palestina. A igreja sofreu remodelações nos séculos XVI e XVIII, apresentando actualmente um interior composto por três naves separadas por arcos, suportados por fortes colunas. O maior destaque vai forçosamente para a lindíssima abóbada artesoada, revestida de azulejos do século XVIII, azuis e brancos. A talha dourada dos retábulos das capelas de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Nossa Senhora do Rosário e São Francisco contrasta com os azulejos polícromos que revestem a Capela de São Sebastião. Belas imagens de Santa Teresa, do século XVII, e de Nossa Senhora do Rosário e Santa Margarida, do século XVIII, completam a decoração da igreja.
