Description

Em 1868, deu-se início à construção da nova igreja - à frente do antigo edifício -, sendo o corpo benzido em 1872.

É um igreja neoclássica de planta longitudinal e nave única, com frontaria flanqueada por duas torres sineiras e rematada por frontão “andulado”. O interior é decorado com retábulos de talha neoclássica, com boa imaginária barroca e naturalista, nomeadamente esculturas de João d’ Affonseca Lapa.

Destacam-se, ainda, as pinturas do teto da capela-mor (com motivos alegóricos) e o pano da tribuna com a Ascensão de Cristo (1918) do Mestre Joaquim Lopes.

Um “alizar” (rodapé alto) de azulejos azuis e brancos, de figura avulsa, com símbolos religiosos, rodeia a nave.

Já as paredes laterais da capela-mor estão totalmente revestidas de azulejos, também em tons de azul, apresentando motivos decorativos vegetalistas, arquitectónicos e cenas da vida de Cristo, datados de 1923 e produzidos na Fábrica da Fonte Nova, Aveiro. O batistério dispõe, ainda, de um painel datado e assinado por Silvestre Silvestri (pintor de azulejos, como os realizados no exterior da Ordem do Carmo, do Porto, em 1912). <a href="http://www.portoenorte.pt/pt/o-que-fazer/igreja-de-santa-eulalia-de-beiriz/" rel="noreferrer nofollow">www.portoenorte.pt/pt/o-que-fazer/igreja-de-santa-eulalia...</a>
