Description

É actualmente a Igreja Matriz de Montemor-o-Velho. Foi fundado pelo Abade João, no século IX, o convento beneditino de São Martinho, presumivelmente construído no local onde se encontra presentemente a igreja. A primeira referência escrita foi em 1195, onde esta igreja aparece como a do arredor. Fizeram-se alterações na fachada e no interior, em 1880 que desvirtuaram a igreja. O edifício presente data de finais do século XIII e inícios do XVI.

A igreja insere-se no gótico simples e rigoroso de tipo regional. Capela-mor rectangular composta por uma única nave, com torre sineira quadrada. O seu interior é um espaço diferenciado iluminado.
