Summary edit

Description
English: Bust of Ilarion Karatzoglou, Greek rebel from Kavala, who participated in the Greek revolution against the Ottoman Empire, the Greek War of Independence (1821). General Makriyannis in his memoirs praised Ilarion as "a liberal, patriot and very brave man". After the establishment of the independent Greek state, Ilarion came back to Macedonia - this time in the territory of Chalkidiki - and he tried to start also a rebellion there aiming to the freedom of Macedonia and its unification to southern Greece. Eventually, he was murdered by the Turks.
