Text Appearing Before Image: NGTON, Dimick B., a mem-ber of the Mormon Battalion, CompanyD, was born May 26, 1808, at Water-town, Jefferson Co., New York, andwas best known among the earlier set-tlers of Utah as an Indian interpreter,and for his influence among the In-dians. He was also connected withearlier musical organizations, notablythe martial band, in which he actedas the drum major; was one of thefirst settlers of Provo. After the mas-sacre of Capt. Gunnison and party byIndians on the Sevier River in 1853,Mr. Huntington was sent to recovertheir papers and property and to burytheir remains, which he accomplishedsuccessfully. IVINS, Antoine Ridgway, one of the First Seven Presidents of Seventies,was born May 11, 1881, at St. George,Washington Co., Utah, a son of An- Text Appearing After Image: thony Woodward Ivins and ElizabethAshby Snow. Being instructed fromearly childhood in the principles offaith and repentance, the boy was bap-tized in the St. George Temple Sept.24, 1889, by Walter Granger, and con-firmed by David H. Cannon. In duetime he was ordained a Deacon and,having moved to Mexico with his par-ents, he was ordained a Teacher inColonia Juarez, Mexico. He was or-dained an Elder by his father in SaltLake City Oct. 10, 1901, and a Sev-enty Dec. 28, 1914, by Fred E. Bar-ker. Bro. Ivins received his endow-ments in the Salt Lake Temple Oct.10, 1901, and on June 26, 1912, in thatholy house, was united in marriage toVilate Ellen Romney, daughter of Or-son D. Romney and Emma Phillips. On Aug. 5, 1931, Bro. Ivins was setapart by Pres, Heber J. Grant to pre-side over the Mexican Mission, suc-ceeding Elder Rey L. Pratt, deceased,in that position.
