Italiano: Ampolla in vetro soffiato a forma di goccia, l'oggetto presenta in alto un'imboccatura smerigliata tale da poter essere tappata, all'occorrenza, con un tappo smerigliato, mentre in basso ha un tubo lungo e stretto, chiuso da un rubinetto. Vi è stampigliata l'iscrizione pubblicitaria-descrittiva 'Schott Duran West Germany 2000ml'.

Italiano: L'imbuto separatore serve a separare due liquidi o soluzioni tra loro immiscibili (es. acqua e olio). Al suo interno i due liquidi si stratificano: sul fondo del recipiente si deposita il liquido con densità maggiore, mentre in superficie rimane il liquido più leggero. La scritta sull'esemplare ne attesta la fabbricazione presso l'azienda di Mainz (West Germany) fondata nel 1884 da Otto Schott, società ancora oggi leader nel settore dei vetri da laboratorio e per usi farmaceutici. Il vetraio tedesco sviluppò nel tardo XIX secolo il vetro borosilicato, venduto con il marchio 'Duran' nel 1893 e dopo il 1915 più noto come 'Pirex'.
