English: A painting from a nobleman's home depicts the gods as much like an ordinary family as possible. The hermit-like Shiva is being waited on by his wife Parvati. Their means of travel, a bull and a lion, are shown below. The couple have two children: the elephant-headed Ganesha (bottom center) and the six-headed warrior-god Kumara, who feeds the peacock on which he rides through the air. |
