Summary
editDescriptionIndian tabar (axe) 4.jpg |
English: Indian (southern) tabar (axe), 18th century, the wooden haft has a steel tang running 3/4 of the way down, pinned by four rivets. This is a good indication that it was made for serious use. The axe head is brass, with chiseled and dot punched decoration. There is red pigment within the decoration. The forged steel blade, which sits against the brass head, shows a temper line running along the edge. Again another indication of being constructed for battle! L.58cm. |
