English: Indonesian buddhists as a ritual "Bathing Buddha" uses fragrant water to bathe the welcoming ceremony of the Vesak holy month in Medan, North Sumatra on May 19, 2019. The ritual, people pour water over a Buddha statue. This is a way to show respect for the Buddha for his teachings and also a new beginning celebration. Vesak is the most important month in the Buddhist calender because it marks the birth, enlightenment, and death of the Buddha. |
