| Inscription | Geologisches Naturdenkmal Hachelstein Der Hachelstein ist ein markanter Felsen, der das Asbachtal um mehr als 50m überragt. Ursprünglich war der Hachelstein mit den Felsgebilden der gegenüberliegenden Breitensteine verbunden. Die Asbach hat sich im Laufe der Zeit einen Weg durch diesen Felsriegel gebahnt und das heutige Bild geschaffen. Zur Zeit des Rotliegenden, vor etwas 250 Millionen Jahren waren im Asbacher Raum Vulkane tätig. Dünnflüssige Lava trat aus und ein einsprenglingsarmer Quarzporphyr, der sogen. Hachelsteinporphyr, entstand. Der Hachselsteinporphyr ist dünnspaltig. Manchmal ist er leicht gefältelt. Die ausfließende Lava wurde an Hindernissen gestaucht und so konnten die Verbiegungen entstehen. Auf dem gewaltigen Felsen des Hachelsteins soll früher eine kleine Burganlage gestanden haben. Eine weitreichende Aussicht bietet sich noch heute vom Hachelstein. Der Gipfel ist über einen schmalen Wanderweg zu erreichenn. Am Felsen wächst vereinzelt die Pfingstnelke (Dianthus gratianopolitanus), die im Volksmund auch als "Hachelsteinnelke" bezeichnet wird. Das Kletter am Felsen ist untersagt. Der Hachelstein ist seit dem 14.10.1940 geschützt. |
