English: "The big question is, Where will our much needed jobs come from?" asked MIT President Susan Hockfield. "Will we let other nations lead or will we seize the lead?"
Spending cuts may help solve America's budget deficit woes, but Hockfield said there are dire consequences from not investing in critical, long-term aspects that drive the innovation economy, which is responsible for generating more than half the new jobs in the last 50 years. Hockfield spoke about the innovation economy at the Commonwealth Club inside Silicon Valley Bank on November 9, 2011. Intel Free Press story: American Innovation Losing its Shine? |
