Description
English: Mace head dedicated to the God Ningirsu. On the mace, Imdugud, the lion-headed eagle, grasps a pair of lion. There are 3 human figures on the sides and back of this mace's head. The largest one probably depicts Enannatum, king of Lagash. From Girsu (modern Tell Telloh, Dhi Qar Governorate), Southern Mesopotamia, Iraq. Circa 2400 BCE, early dynastic III period. The British Museum, London.
