Summary edit
DescriptionInside the Docklands museum - geograph.org.uk - 869645.jpg |
English: Inside the Docklands museum Much of the structure of this 1802 sugar warehouse remains intact, built as solidly as the merchant ships that docked outside.
The building represents a significant point in the notorious 'triangular trade': ships would leave London bound for West Africa, collect a shipload of captives, sail to the West Indies where Africans would be sold as slaves, and then return on the final leg to England with a cargo of sugar. World Heritage Site status is being sought in recognition of this. |
