English: Inside the church of St Dogwell/Dogfael Confusing nomenclature here: the hamlet is nowadays known as St Dogwells, with or without an apostrophe, after the church dedicated to the C6 Celtic saint more properly called Dogfael or Dogmael. In addition, the Welsh name of the church and former village is/was Llantyddewi in recognition of the fact that it was appropriated by the chapter of St David's cathedral in the C13.
The church is normally closed but on this occasion it was open for cleaning. |
