Summary
editDescriptionInterior of St Lukes Church, Buckfastleigh - geograph.org.uk - 1159833.jpg |
English: Interior of St Lukes Church, Buckfastleigh. Interior of the modern church opened in 2002 - see 1127466 and 1159807.
The font in the left foreground was removed from the fire damaged Holy Trinity Church 1097516, and there are Victorian stained glass windows that came from the chapel that was demolished to make room for the new church - this was done to give continuity with the previous churches. The space is full of natural light (this was taken late on a February day) and was designed for flexible use by the church and the community, with chairs that can be removed and areas that can be made into smaller spaces, and a large meeting room below. 1166670 tries to show how the roof design feeds light into the space. |
