| Description |
English: The interior seating area inside the New York State Thruway's Ontario Service Area, as seen on an August 2021 evening. The high sloping ceilings supported by heavy wooden beams, joined to each other with diagonal knee braces, are emblematic of the "Adirondack style" of architecture commissioned by the Thruway Authority in the late 1980s for construction of the current Service Area buildings. July 2021 saw the kickoff of a four-year, $450 million Service Area Modernization Project in which the now three-decade-old buildings will be gradually demolished and replaced with more modern-styled structures accommodating an expanded slate of amenities. |
