Description
English: Ironstone boulders on the beach at Hengistbury Head These ironstone boulders have fallen from the soft cliff-face onto the beach below. The ore from the headland has been used for centuries. The large-scale removal of the boulders removed a natural sea-defence from the foot of the cliffs and accelerated marine erosion of the headland. This photo was taken at low tide.
