Summary edit

Description This is a former church with well-regarded mosaics. It was built around 1080. It became a mosque after the Ottoman conquest of Constantinople, and was converted to a secular museum in 1948. This is probably not something that I knew in advance. My guess is that it was a result of my "accidental" Turkish guide, who attached himself to me during the day.
