Description
English: This is a digital enlargement of the previous one, I distorted the image slightly in cropping.

The caligraphy in the inscription - which the Strolling through Istanbul Guide mentions is intricate and of the highest quality - is probably by Ali Sofi, a man who also made the caligraphy over the Imperial Gate at Topkapı palace. This ‘kitabe’ (building inscription) above the entrance to the Murat Paşa Mosque is an early example of Classical Ottoman style (dated 876 H = 1471 AD). It is the text of a prayer (in Arabic), adorned with flower motifs.
