Description

The splendid wooden Atkinson Clock Tower is perched at the edge of a steep hill, and it's quite a challenge to walk around it (though most visitors do). At one point (extreme left in this picture) the width is a mere ridge about a foot wide, so you need to hold on to the fencing real tight to avoid slipping down the steep, grassy hill into the traffic below. The Atkinson Clock Tower was for many decades used as navigation support for ships and is the oldest standing structure in Kota Kinabalu, but also the one of only three remaining buildings after the air raids in World War II.
