Français : Original caption: " Des soldats allemands avec leurs chevaux se rassemblent sur la Grand-Place d’Echternach, aujourd’hui Place du Marché, lors de l’invasion du Luxembourg le 2 août 1914. Les hommes assis semblent prendre du repos avant d’investir la ville. Au début du mois d'août, des milliers de soldats sont entrés au Luxembourg dans le cadre du plan Schlieffen, qui visait à attaquer d'abord la France avant de centrer l'action de l'armée allemande sur les Russes et le Front de l'Est. Ce plan a échoué et quelque 5 000 soldats allemands sont restés en poste au Luxembourg pendant les quatre années suivantes. " |
