Description Gentiana acaulis 'Krebs'—stemmless gentian. Native to mountainous regions of South Central and Southern Europe from the Pyrennees to the Balkans, G. acaulis has been cultivated since at least the 18th century. The species was the first gentian to be featured in Curtis's Botanical Magazine (in the second volume.) The cultivar 'Krebs' is a particularly floriferous form.
