Description
English: JAL domestic B747-400, no winglets. Delivered to JAL in Oct-91, this was the first of their -400's for Japanese domestic services and continued to operate until it was retired in Sep-10 after 19 years service. The -400D's could have gone on for a few more years but with the price of fuel continuing to rise they had become uneconomic to operate and JAL made the decision to retire them. As they were 'short range' aircraft no other airlines wanted them and even the B747 'F' conversions had almost stopped. It was sold for scrap in Oct-10 and the aircraft was ferried to Walnut Ridge (ARG), AR, USA as N894DB, for storage. It's still there today (Feb-13) and will eventually be broken up.
