Summary edit

Description
English: Built in 1925 within Bank Street/Old Decatur Historic District, on the National Register of Historic Places, this home place of Decatur, Alabama's most renown political celebrity, the late Judge Seybourn H. Lynne, the U.S. judge who issued the historic order in 1963 which stopped the late Gov. George Wallace from blocking two black students from attending the University of Alabama, is an elegant 2 story, 4 bedroom house. A contributing structure to the historic district's National Register listing, this historic home place is located on a southwest corner of the historic district. This 82' x 165' lot, 503 Ferry Street NE, is the original parcel of the old Blue Goose Inn, which burned around the end of the 19th century, and became the site of the first new house built, circa 1900, by Judge Lynne's father, Seybourn Arthur Lynne. After living in that weatherboard house for about 24 years, Seybourn Arthur Lynne tore it down and in 1925 finished the existing home place of Decatur's most renowned son.
