Image title	Following the war, John Wyer operated a business in Watford, England that specialized in the preparation of racing and high-performance cars. In 1950 David Brown at Aston Martin hired Wyer as racing team manager; Wyer managed Aston Martin for thirteen years, and in 1959 Aston Martin won the 24-Hours of Le Mans and the World Sports Car Championship. Jon Wyer joined Ford Motor Company in 1963 for the development of the GT40 after Ford was unable to buy Ferrari. Ford GT40s won Le Mans in 1966 and 1967 with the big 7-litre V-8 engines; Ford Motor Co. withdrew from racing after the 1967 season, and Wyer took over the racing program with his own company, JW Automotive Engineering Ltd. His company modified and refined the Ford GT40 into a better racing car; Wyer's Gulf research team subsequently won Le Mans in 1968 and 1969, as well as the World Championship in 1968. Wyer ran Porsche 917s for Gulf Research in 1970 and 1971, and won Le Mans and the World Championship both years!
