Italiano: "Il castello Valperga di Masino ospita un gran numero di ritratti di gentiluomini o gentildonne: tra di essi pare di poter provvisoriamente individuare delle serie sulla base di analogie iconografiche, di epoche, di cultura artistica e anche delle cornici, le quali testimoniano di una volontà in qualche modo unificatrice di certi insiemi rispetto ad altri. La serie qui individuata può iconograficamente ricondursi ai modelli delle "belle donne" ritratte da J. F. Voet, a Roma tra 1663 e 1679, per Carlo Emanuele II, Lorenzo Onofrio Colonna e Flavio Chigi, (anche al Mellan e a Paul Mignard si devono analoghe serie, quest'ultima presso la Pinacoteca del Castello Sforzesco di Milano). Proprio alla maniera di Voet sono stati infatti ricondotti buona parte dei ritratti, con l'eccezione di due (schede 0100048682 e 0100048706), il cui autore pare comunque appartenere a ambito di cultura francese. I soggetti sono solo in parte identificati; le cornici, pur non identiche (di cinque diversi tipi), risultano assai simili e di analogo ambito culturale. Sulle serie delle "belle donne" si vedano Michela di Macco, Quadreria di palazzo e pittori di corte. Le scelte ducali dal 1630 al 1684, in "Figure del barocco in Piemonte, Torino, 1988, in cui è citata espressamente la collezione di Carlo Francesco di Masino; Michela di Macco, Il ritratto e l'omaggio simbolico, in "Diana trionfatrice", Torino, 1989; A. Brejon de Lavergnée, Deux portraits de Jacob Ferdinand Voet, in "La revue du Louvre et des Musées de France", 1983. La serie di Masino è stata recentemente citata anche da Petrucci in "Arte Lombarda" n° 129, 2000" [1]
