| Description | Tumbas de los arquitectos que proyectaron y construyeron las murallas de la ciudad vieja de Jerusalén, ejecutados por orden del Sultán Suleimán el Magnífico luego de concluidos los trabajos, para impedir que puedan constuir otra obra semejante que eclipse a ésta (Según otra versión, para impedir que puedan revelar las debilidades de la muralla a los enemigos; y según una tercera, le resultó más económico al Sultán pagar a un verdugo por 5 minutos de trabajo, que a dos arquitectos por 4 años ...). Y existe aun una cuarta: el Sultán enfureció al comprobar que el trazado de la muralla, dejó fuera de su perímetro al Monte Sión y a la tumba del rey David. Puerta de Jafa, Jerusalén, Israel. |
