Summary edit

Description
English: From the source, Photograph of the sculpture slab representing the seated Jain tirthankara Parsvanatha, with other images leaning against the wall in the background at Sironi Khurd, taken by Edmund William Smith in the 1880s-90s. Sironi Khurd is located in the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. Jhansi was ruled by a succession of dynasties under several different names, the most notable being the Chandella kings who ruled between the 9th and the 12th centuries. Many of the Hindu and Jain temples that remain date to this period. In the North-Western Provinces List of 1891, A. Führer wrote, "Sironi Khurd, small village in pargana Bansi of tahsil Lalitpur...possesses several modern temples built of brick, mortar, and old temple ruins with a good compound wall. Both inside the compound and lying about the jangal outside the compound are many ancient statues of the Jain Tirthamkaras, some of which are inscribed and dated Samvat 1252."
