Bahasa Indonesia: Jika menilik sejarah tari jaipong ada dua nama besar yang disebut-sebut sebagai pencipta tari kebanggaan masyarakat jawa barat ini yaitu Haji Suanda dan Gugum Gumbira. Haji Suanda merupakan salah seorang seniman asli sunda yang berasal dari kota karawang jawa barat. Beliau adalah seorang yang sangat berbakat dalam bidang seni sehingga dia mampu menguasai beberapa kesenian dari beberapa daerah, khususnya daerah kelahirannya yaitu kota karawang.

Diantara kesenian yang dia kuasai adalah Ketuk Tilu, Wayang Golek, Pencak Silat dan Topeng Benjet. Dengan kecerdasan yang dimilikinya pada tahun 1976 Haji Suanda berinovasi dengan menggabungkan tiga kesenian menjadi satu tarian. Dia berhasil menyatukan beberapa gerakan seni dari tiga kesenian yang berbeda. Kesenian yang dia gabungkan adalah kesenian Wayang Golek, kesenian Ketuk Tilu, dan kesenian Pencak Silat. Dari penggabungan tersebut terciptalah satu kesenian tari yang sangat unik dengan gaya yang begitu energik. Dimana tari ini sangat disukai oleh masyarakat setempat dan berkembang sangat pesat. Dengan diiringi jenis musik yang bertenaga seperti degung, gendang, gong dan alat musik ketuk lainnya kesenian ini menjelma menjadi sebuah tari yang seru.

Untuk menambah keelokan gerakan tari digunakan juga pengiring suara yang biasa kita sebut dengan sinden. Dengan suaranya yang khas sinden selalu berhasil menjadi ciri khas pada setiap pertunjukan tari yang ditampilkan. Dahulu nama tari ini belum dikenal sebagai tari jaipong. Kemudian barulah muncul seorang seniman yang bernama Gugum Gumilar.

Seniman yang juga asli sunda tersebut menyukai gerakan-gerakan tari yang diciptakan oleh Haji suanda. Sehingga dia sangat semangat sekali untuk mempelajarinya. Setelah dia berhasil menguasai semua gerakan demi gerakan Gugum Gumilar memperbarui kesenian tari ini dan terciptalah Tari jaipong.

Sambutan masyarakat terhadap tari jaipong sangat baik, setelah pada tahun 1979 tari jaipong mulai dikenal oleh banyak orang. Banyak daerah lain yang memanggil kesenian tari jaipong untuk berbagai keperluan. Hingga akhirnya jaipong meluas dan sekarang dikenal sebagai kesenian tari khas jawa barat.
English: If you look at the history of Jaipong dance, there are two big names who are said to be the creators of this dance that is the pride of the people of West Java, namely Haji Suanda and Gugum Gumbira. Haji Suanda is a Sundanese artist who comes from the city of Karawang, West Java. He is a very talented person in the field of art so that he is able to master several arts from several regions, especially his birthplace, namely the city of karawang.

Among the arts that he mastered are Tilu Tilu, Wayang Golek, Pencak Silat and Benjet Mask. With his intelligence in 1976 Haji Suanda innovated by combining three arts into one dance. He managed to unite several artistic movements from three different arts. The arts that he combines are the Wayang Golek art, the Tap Tilu art, and the Pencak Silat art.

From this merger, a very unique dance art with a very energetic style was created. Where this dance is very well liked by the local community and is growing very rapidly. Accompanied by powerful types of music such as gamelan, drums, gongs and other percussion instruments, this art is transformed into an exciting dance.

To add to the beauty of the dance movement, a voice accompaniment is also used which we usually call sinden. With his distinctive voice, sinden always manages to become the hallmark of every dance performance that is performed. Previously the name of this dance was not known as the Jaipong dance. Then an artist named Gugum Gumilar appeared.

The artist who is also a Sundanese native likes the dance movements created by Haji Suanda. So he was very excited to learn it. After he managed to master all the movement after movement Gugum Gumilar updated this dance art and created the Jaipong Dance.

The public response to the Jaipong dance was very good, after in 1979 the Jaipong dance became known by many people. Many other areas call for the art of jaipong dance for various purposes. Until finally Jaipong expanded and is now known as a typical dance art of West Java.
