Description
English: A plaque along one of the walls of the Jamaica LIRR station house commemorating the 175th Anniversary of the Long Island Rail Road. The Long Island Rail Road has existed since 1834, and the current Jamaica station building on Sutphin Boulevard and Archer Avenue in Downtown Jamaica has been in it's present form since 1913, when it was reconstructed from two older stations, one built by the LIRR, and the other by the former South Side Railroad of Long Island, which it acquired in 1876, along with the Flushing, North Shore and Central Railroad.
