Description
English: James D. Lowman was born in Maryland on October 5, 1856 and moved to Seattle at the age of 20 to work for his uncle, Henry Yesler. Lowman established his own business, the Lowman and Hanford Company, and lived with his wife Mary in a mansion on First Hill. This photo was taken around the time of their marriage in 1881.
