Description

"Ready to Move Out: Private First Class James Thormburg (Jackson, Mississippi), carries his mine detector on his shoulder as he prepares to move out on a patrol with the 2d Battalion, 4th Marines [2/4] along the Cau Viet River. The battalion has had several sharp contacts during the past few weeks with North Vietnamese forces in the area just south of the demilitarized zone (official USMC photo by Private First Class D. W. Barr)."
