  • Die met A. ghemerckt, is de Ian Room-poorts Toorn, 't welcke eertijds een ouden, doch / noch stercken leghen ronden Toorn der Stadstspoorts (ghenaemt Ian Room-poort) plach te / zijn, staende op de Cingel, schuyns tegens over de Huysinghe van den Heere Burgermeester Rey- / nier Pauw, dan is in den Iare 1616. den 10 May, begonnen met een vierkantighen huydt omtoghen / te werden, en alsoo voorts in forme van een Klock-toorn, als in de teghenwoordighe Bouw-form / te sien is, op-ghetrocken, en vermidts het sterck wercken aen de selve (alsoo de op-makingh seer van den Heer Burgermeester Pauw (soo men seyde) wierde be-yvert, ter sake van den af-ghebroken Stadt- / huys Toorn, waer door de plaetsen daer omtrent geen na by klocken-slach of wysers en hadden), is / noch in 't selve jaer gheheel volmaeckt geweest.
