English: Scale of the Small Sundial (Laghu Samarat Yantra). Jantar Mantar Observatory.
The scale of this sundial is sectioned into hours (large division in shadow to the right). The rest of the scale is in the five bands at the bottom of the photo. The hour is divided into intervals of one half hour, one quarter hour, five minutes, one minute, and lastly, each minute is divided into thirds. Therefore, the accuracy of this sundial is 1/3 of a minute, or 20 seconds. |
