Summary

Description
English: Japanese invader Japanese knotweed (Fallopia Japonica) was introduced in the 1880s as a foliage plant. Since then it has become a menace especially in South Wales. It is almost impossible to eradicate, has no predators here and propagates itself readily via its roots even a small portion of which can start a new colony. It is an offence to do anything that may encourage it to spread and any part of the plant must be disposed of as toxic waste. Named as one of the world's worse plant invaders.
