English: "Empire School Gives Play. 'When Dreams Come True' Presented by Pupils[:] Pupils of the American Academy of Dramatic Arts gave their first performance of the season at the Empire Theatre, New York City, on Thursday afternoon, Nov. 4. ¶ The play was a four act comedy, by Jean Webster, entitled "When Dreams Come True," the plot of which concerns the heart affairs of Cicely Cosgrove, who loves a poet and is jilted for an actress. The poet goes away and Cicely becomes a flirt. The piece seemed to appeal strongly to the audience. ¶ Nana Hibbard played with excellent results the role of Cicely, and the real lover, Barry Holbrook, was taken by Arthur La Rue. The role of the poet was taken by Frank P[rice] Giles. Rachel Ridgly had the role of the matchmaking wife. Others in the cast were Philip Barrison, Grant Ervin, Edward Lindsley, Eleanor Taylor, Jean Marcet [=Anna Marcet Haldeman] and Margaret Greene." New York Clipper newspaper, 13 November 1909, p. 1006.
