Description
English: Jeep used by soldiers during a test run on a 1 meter narrow gauge track in Brisbane, Australia on 30 June 1943: A ¼ ton jeep fitted with rail wheels can easily pull 20,000 pounds. The main purpose of these rail jeeps was to haul flatcars loaded with supplies in New Guinea. This demonstration was held at Eagle Farm Aerodrome in Brisbane, Australia. At the wheel is Brig Gen C W Connell, Commanding General, Air Service Command. To his right are LTC Donald Thomas, Boise, Idaho and LTC R L Fry, Pocatello, Idaho. Brisbane, Australia, 30 June 1943. Deutsch: Demonstration auf einer Schmalspurbahn mit 1000 mm Spurweite im Eagle Farm Aerodrome in Brisbane, (Australien) am 30.
