Summary edit

Description
English: The Macellum was first thought to be the state agora, the political counterpart to the oval forum. Later it was understood to be a food market. In the centre sits an octagon, surrounding it food would be sold and money changed. Lions support a bench that would have supported the wares sold. It was built in the first quarter of the 2nd century AD. It had mosaics that have been covered again.
