| Description |
English: Jesse Clipper Square, William Street at Michigan Avenue, Buffalo, New York, May 2020. Its namesake was a vocalist and bandleader of some renown who served for a time as vice-president of American Federation of Musicians Local 533, but who lost his life in the First World War. Today, this small city park is dedicated in honor of black veterans of all American wars from the First World War to the conflict in Afghanistan. The monument that serves as its centerpiece was dedicated in 1935 by the Black Veterans of Buffalo and the American Legion Jesse Clipper Post #430, and reads: "IN MEMORY OF THE VALIANT SERVICE OF NEGROES IN ALL WARS OF THESE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA TO THE GLORY OF GOD". |
